Yesterday, when I was looking for an inspirational quote for my newsletter, I came upon this one: Life Begins at the End of Your Comfort Zone. How you ever noticed this??

What about that time that you went for your first job interview, went on your first date or did something that you had never done before? You were really nervous before hand and maybe even felt like backing out at the last minute, but you didn’t, AND you survived!!

There are many situations in life that can make us feel this way because we get comfortable. We are used to the everyday and the mundane and can sometimes get very comfortable in that rut, so much so they we don’t even want to look beyond to see what else is out there. Sound familiar?

Have you ever been offered an opportunity and turned it down because it all seemed too hard, even if the returns in the long run would all be worth it? Sometimes it is well and truly worth stepping out of your comfort zone to see what the world has to offer. When was the last time that you made yourself get “uncomfortable”?

Do you realise that every time a musician gets up to perform this is a step outside their comfort zone. It is true that there are many performers that seem to belong on the stage, but that doesn’t mean they don’t get nervous. I have often heard interviews with famous celebrities who claim to have a case of nerves every time! The way they prepare themselves for this is to practice. Practice, practice and more practice! This does not mean that they will never make a mistake it just narrows down the chances of that occurrence.

Lots of wonderful things can happen on the other side of your comfort zone. You discover that you are more than you ever thought you could be. You also realise that taking a step out of the circle, although nerve wracking at times, is very rewarding and certainly never as scary as you imagined.

I encourage everyone to look for something in life that will challenge you. It can be learning a new skill, joining a new group or club, setting yourself a challenge like completing a marathon or start following your passion by doing something you love but were never game to try.

We only live once so let’s make it worth it.
